Overview:
Facility Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Type of property: Industrial
Waste Service and Cost Prior to our involvement:
Trash: One vendor owned 25-yard Compactor serviced one time per week and one 2-yard container serviced three times per week.
Recycling: Vendor owned baler on site for OCC only. No reporting of weights or rebates were offered during the time this vendor was collecting recycled material.
Analysis:
Manufacturing Waste consisting of:
General Waste, Silicon, Steel, Film, Fiber Purging, Purging Pails / Lids
Objective:
Divert all recoverable materials from waste stream. Reduce the number of hauls on the compactor for MSW. Drive down pricing for disposal and transportation. Renegotiate and recontract services with site preferred waste hauler.
Solution:
DWS recycling partner RPM was able to offer a recycling program which established rebates for most material. Some materials had zero resell value, however removing these materials from waste stream resulted in cost savings.
DWS increased the landfill diversion rate while saving the facility $42,000 annually. A 74% reduction in net costs from these waste and recycling streams.
